Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district on Sunday May 29. According to sources, a Russian AN-94 assault rifle, a 1994 Avtomat Nikonova model, was used in his murder.

Meanwhile, the license plates of the vehicles used to kill Sidhu Moose Wala turned out to be fake.

After the car was found with fake license plates, IG Pradeep Yadav said the killers would soon be arrested. “We have a lot of leads,” he said.

Almost 30 laps were fired at Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, Punjab chief cop VK Bhawra said, adding that the bullets were fired from at least three different weapons. Sources said three AK-94 rifle bullets were recovered from the scene. An AN-94 was first used in gang warfare in Punjab.

According to the Director General of Police (DGP), the singer left his home around 4:30 p.m. and was shot dead an hour later.

Sidhu Moose Wala contested the Punjab assembly election this year on a Mansa Congress ticket and was beaten by AAP candidate Vijay Singla by a whopping 63,000 vote margin. Vijay Singla was recently sacked by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on corruption charges.

Last month, Sidhu Moose Wala had sparked an argument after targeting the Aam Aadmi party and its supporters in his song “Scapegoat”. The singer had called supporters of the AAP “gaddar” (traitor) in his song.
