AdNews magazine’s 2021 cover of the year goes to Special NZ

Special New Zealand won AdNews Magazine Cover of the Year for 2021.

The agency won the honor of best coverage in a popular vote, against a strong group: January/February Engine Group; March/April Howatson+; May/June Innocean Australia; July/August Student at AWARD William Labourier School in NSW; The Annual Houston Group.

The September/October issue focused on New Zealand to look at how the industry has been tracking during the pandemic.

Special New Zealand made magic with The calm in the storm blanket, a giant Kiwi inside a snow globe with the storm outside, safe from the pandemic wilderness.

Lisa Fedyszyn, ECD: “The idea had to tick some boxes and obviously get everything we wanted to say into one image: that New Zealand’s creative industries get on it.

“The idea chosen just seemed like a simple concept to grasp, and proof that we’re getting it right, because the image in the globe is a Tourism New Zealand film, shot here in Aotearoa in conjunction with Special Australia.”
